Furniture & Objects StudioBrooklyn Navy Yard design studio led by industrial designer Stephen Burks and partner Malika Leiper, integrating hand-production and artisan techniques with industrial manufacturing. Works across furniture, lighting, product, and packaging design for brands including Cappellini, Dedar, Dedon, Missoni, and Roche Bobois, with a practice built around collaborations with artisan communities globally. Burks holds degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology and Columbia University and was the first industrial designer awarded the Loeb Fellowship at Harvard's Graduate School of Design; he is also the first African American to receive the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in product design. The studio's work has been exhibited at the Studio Museum in Harlem, the High Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
