Founder, Alara Alkan Studio at Colony

New York-based furniture designer and founder of Alara Alkan Studio, established in 2022 after a group exhibition at Milan Design Week's Alcova. Trained in furniture design at RISD, Alkan works primarily in hardwood, using sandblasting and bleaching to let natural weathering and light define each piece. Her Temporal Tides collection was produced through Colony's design residency, and her work remains on Colony's roster of independent American talents.
