Luke Malaney
Maker & FabricatorFurniture & ProductCustom FurnitureFurniture Maker at Piscina
Brooklyn-based furniture maker working out of a shared Red Hook studio community that includes Piscina and Supersmith. Trained in carpentry at SUNY Delhi and later apprenticed under Roman woodworker Remo Capoli, Malaney builds one-of-a-kind chairs, cabinets, and lighting in wood, blending old-world joinery with sculptural, surreal forms. He first learned woodworking in a high school shop class on Long Island before working construction and carpentry jobs in Queens. Working largely without preliminary sketches, he sources domestic hardwoods such as cherry, ash, oak, and pine, incorporating reclaimed lumber and hammered, torched copper accents. His pieces have been shown at Marc Straus and Objective Gallery, and his pine-and-copper cabinet Open House was presented at the THEMA fair in Paris in October 2025.
